Questions About Social Dance for Adults?
Everything you need to know about beginner bachata and salsa classes in Waterford and Kilkenny
Not at all. Our classes are designed specifically for complete beginners aged 45 and over with no prior dance experience. We start from the very basics and move at a pace that works for everyone in the room.
Bachata is slower, more romantic, and focuses on close partner connection—perfect if you want to feel the music deeply. Salsa is faster, more energetic, and involves more hip movement and spins. Both are social dances where you'll meet people and have fun.
Most of our students feel confident joining a beginner-friendly social event after 8-10 weeks of weekly classes. Everyone learns at their own pace though—some take 6 weeks, others 12. We'll never rush you.
Absolutely. Social dancing improves balance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness while keeping your mind sharp. It's also a fantastic way to combat loneliness—you'll build friendships with other students and feel part of a community.
No. We rotate partners during class so everyone dances with different people. This helps you build confidence and learn faster. Many of our students come alone and make friends quickly.
Look for classes specifically designed for beginners over 45, instructors who understand the needs of mature learners, a welcoming community atmosphere, and a trial class option. Check if they offer both bachata and salsa so you can try different styles. Visit in person and chat with current students—they'll tell you the real story.
